 Trees & Shrubs Most trees and shrubs will survive a mild attack from insects and disease and may even recover from a loss of leaves. Repeated infestations or a spreading disease will weaken the plant and can eventually kill it. Most diseases and insect infestations can be controlled with the proper pesticide. Early detection and proper identification of the problem are obviously extremely important. An insecticide must be applied when the insects are present as these chemicals are basically contact killers. Even the most effective chemicals under ideal conditions have a residual effect of only ten days. A broad-spectrum insecticide sprayed in June and again in early August will help control inchworms and aphids, which are prevalent in this area. Lawns |
